Reverend Courtlyn G. Williams
Father Court began his ministry with us on September 1st, 2015. He and his wife Julie and their two children Maggie and Joe moved here from Eugene, Oregon where Fr. Court had served as rector to St. Thomas Episcopal Church for six years.
In his personal ministry statement, Fr. Court revealed, "I want to welcome all people into a deeper relationship with God, known in Jesus Christ and experienced through the Holy Spirit, through Christian formation, vibrant worship, radical hospitality and outreach to the local and global community."
Fr. Court has had a rich history before being ordained in the Chicago Diocese on December 6, 2008. After serving in the Air Force, he later worked as a restaurant manager and then a systems analyst at Hewitt. Acquiring a college education over the years as a part-time student, he eventually completed his B.A. in English from Northwestern University in 2005 and shortly thereafter entered the seminary at Seabury-Western.
As a life-long Episcopalian, Court has participated within the life of the church in many ways. Within his home parish of St. Lawrence in Libertyville, he served as both vestry member and warden, youth group leader, and taught many Bible study classes. He has also served in the life of the Diocese, both in Chicago and in Oregon, through participation in learning programs, membership on committees, and as camp chaplain.
Fr. Court offers a constellation of ministries and skills that will serve Trinity in both our mission and our ministries. These include the ability to raise funds for and coordinate large capital projects, a collaborative approach to outreach, a view of stewardship that is year round, and an awareness that all successful pastoral care is built on forming relationships. His brings with him a host of experiences, both liturgical and administrative, that will teach our church family how to be better stewards of our church buildings and resources and will allow us to reach beyond our campus to the greater needs around us in both Highland Park and the world. Additionally, Fr. Court is a wonderful writer, a gifted homilist, and an articulate communicator. With his warm and commanding presence, gentle spirit, and terrific sense of humor we know that he will quickly become endeared in your hearts as he leads us together into a new and vibrant era for Trinity Episcopal Church.
