“Choral Evensong featuring north shore composers Suzy Born, Jim Stephenson and Scott Baeseman” Sunday, March 14th, 2010 4 p.m. Guest Preacher: Rabbi Isaac Serotta. We invite you to join us for a self-reflective afternoon of music at Music At Trinity’s annual Choral Evensong in honor of the Lenten season. The roots and script of Evensong can be traced back through history originating in early Christian and, perhaps, Judaic evening worship. Like all forms of liturgical worship, Evensong has elements of drama and ritual that nourish the spiritual life of the people. Traditionally, this service is celebrated in the late afternoon or evening. It is roughly the same as Vespers in the Roman Catholic Church and Lutheran churches, although it was originally formed by combining the Catholic offices of vespers and compline. The Evensong that we will present through Music At Trinity will have elements of Anglicanism, as well as Judaism and Catholicism included within our service. All are welcomed to attend regardless of faith or religious affiliation. The music featured on this program will include new and old works by three north shore composers including Suzy Born, Jim Stephenson and our own Music At Trinity artistic director, Scott Baeseman.
All concerts will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church, 425 Laurel Avenue, Highland Park.
