Keeping Lent at Trinity and with Our Partners

In addition to our Sunday Eucharist at 10 a.m., consider the following opportunities to keep Lent this year.

Ash Wednesday, February 14 at noon (Trinity) and 7 pm (St. Gregory’s)
We kick off Lent with Eucharist on Ash Wednesday, with the distribution of ashes. Trinity (425 Laurel Avenue, Highland Park) will host our Better Together partners at noon, and St. Gregory’s (815 Wilmot Road, Deerfield) will host the evening service.

Wednesday Stations of the Cross at St. Gregory's
On Wednesdays during Lent (except March 6), our Better Together partners at St. Gregory's (815 Wilmot Road, Deerfield) hosts Stations of the Cross, a traditional prayer of reflection on the last day of Jesus' life, both onsite and online at this link. The exception is March 8, when Trinity (425 Laurel Ave.) will host the Stations at 6 p.m., followed by a Lenten fish dinner.

Thursday Morning Eucharist, Bible Study, and Morning Prayer
On Thursday mornings at 7:30 am, St. Elisabeth's in Glencoe (556 Vernon Ave.) celebrates a simple morning Eucharist. Trinity hosts at Thursday morning Bible study (9 a.m.) and Morning Prayer (10 a.m.) on Zoom at this link

Common Crises, Common Prayer,  Sundays in Lent
Join Rev. Dan Puchalla at St. Gregory's for a five-week journey through the Book of Common Prayer to see how this treasury of spirituality can be used to face the most common, most challenging aspects of our daily lives. Lent Book Group: The Episcopal Way by Eric Law and Stephanie Spellers
Join a group of inquirers to explore the particular Episcopal approach to Christian faith. We will meet on Wednesdays at 6:30 pm in the dining room at Trinity (425 Laurel Avenue, Highland Park) on the following dates (note we skip March 6): February 21, February 28, March 13. Loss and Grief Workshops, February 24 and 25
Lent can be a time for reflection on mortality, and loss and grief can come upon us suddenly. Join workshops on grief and loss hosted by St. Lawrence Episcopal and Grace Lutheran Churches in Libertyville, led by Jessica Field, MPS. A session for adults will be held on Saturday, February 24, at Grace (501 Valley Park Drive, Libertyville) at 10 a.m.; a session for children and youth (ages 6 to 18) will be held at 4:30 p.m., also at Grace followed by dinner at 6 p.m. A time of prayer stations and reflection will be held at St, Lawrence on Sunday, February 25 at 4:30 p.m. The workshops are free but registration is required by February 19. Lenten Quiet Day, Saturday, March 2 at St. Elisabeth’s
Join our Better Together partners at St. Elisabeth’s (556 Vernon Avenue, Glencoe) for “A Quiet Morning in Lent” on Saturday morning, March 2 from 9 am to Noon. Please join Saint Elizabeth's rector Adam Spencer, Associate for Spiritual Wellness Elizabeth Clemmitt, and her spiritual direction colleague Deborah DeManno from Saint Lawrence, Libertyville and Saint Augustine‘s in Wilmette, as they offer an array of spiritual practices and quiet activities that will help still our minds and soothe our souls. Opportunities for spiritual direction, prayer, healing, confession and more will be available at this mini-retreat morning.

Stations of the Cross and Lenten Fish Fry, Friday, March 8 at 6 p.m.
